Block Party!

Get ready for the 2012 Summer Block Party!

This Summer the SPCA is throwing a Summer Block Party for the entire Schumacher Place neighborhood. This will be a great night of food, music, fun, and conversation. There will be something for everyone! We will have a pig roast, music, corn hole, ping pong, inflatable bounce house (for the kids), kid games, cotton candy, card games, and more. Please don't miss this great neighborhood event. The Summer Block Party will be Saturday, July 14th from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Columbus Street between Beech & Bruck Streets. We will have the street blocked off and have a big grassy lot on that street for all the festivities. The Summer Block Party is FREE, but we are asking that folks, if able, bring a side dish to share with the neighborhood. We will have plenty of drinks available (soda/pop, water, lemonade, etc...), but bring your own beer/wine if you'd like.

Please invite your neighbors. We hope this is a great night for the whole neighborhood, kids and adults alike.

We will also be selling the newly designed Schumacher Place T-Shirts. Plan to buy one or two to support and show your neighborhood pride!

We hope you'll join us for a great evening!

Wear Your Bike Helmet To Work Or School Day

Help us prevent head injuries. Last year, 51,000 injuries were prevented by wearing a bike helmet. On Wednesday September 21st, join the American Academy of Pediatrics and Governor Kasich in a statewide effort to promote helmet safety. Wear your bike helmet to work or school and tell everyone why!

Help your kids remember to wear their helmets. It’s all about saving lives.

Sincerely,
Angela Mingo

Call for Artists and Volunteers

The SPCA House and Garden Tour Committee is seeking artists to participate in our garden and arts tour to be held on Saturday, August 27. Although we do want artists who fit into specific themes in each of the eight gardens on our tour, we also welcome artists who want to put up booths or play music along the tour route. If you know any artists, please send their contact information (or invite them to contact) Jeanne Tranter, 581.0979 or jtranter@trantercommunications.com. The attached postcard provides more information on the event.

We also will need a lot of volunteers from the neighborhood to pull off this fun and unique event. We could use your creativity and your time. (We promise not to hog it; there will be plenty of time for you to tour the gardens yourself!) We will be sending a list of volunteer positions shortly — but feel free to contact Jeanne before then if you want to be a part of this first-of-its-kind Schumacher celebration.
